Lakkar Bazaar or the wood Bazaar is on a narrow road adjoining the Ridge. The Bazaar road also leads to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and hospital and DAV school. It is popular for wooden decorative items and souvenirs.
Lakkar Bazaar is a marketplace adjoining the Ridge in Shimla, India. Shops offer wooden articles targeted mainly at tourists. Wooden walking sticks are famous. Lakkar Bazar was like a small village in itself. Regal Building, comprising a Cinema Hall, Roller Skating Hall and Meena Bazar is a famous place.There is also a roller skating rink in Lakkar Bazaar.The shops here offer almost everything from decorative items to articles used daily in kitchen. The market came into being after a group of Sikh carpenters came and settled here from Hoshiapur. They continue to churn out charming wooden products from woods such as deodars and walnut, which are commonly found around Shimla.
The museum feature life-size wax statues of popular personalities from various fields, such as Hollywood, Bollywood, Politicians, Sports etc, like Madame Tussauds, London – the most famous wax museum in the world. Presently, Johnnie’s Wax Museum features 16 statues, which are handmade in London.
