HISTORY OF NALDEHRA: -In the year 1905, Lord Curzon was captivated by the beauty of the region and so he made his favourite camping site just outside the British summer capital of Shimla. What he made in 19's is now considered as one of the most scenic golf course in the country. Also, it is believed that in the memory of his stay he named this place as Alexandra Naldehra, which was the name of his third daughter.

Set amidst pine trees at 6,706 ft, Naldehra Golf Course is on the Hindustan-Tibet Road. Initially a 9 Hole Course, it was expanded to 18 holes. Maintained and run by Himachal Tourism, it is well groomed golf course and perhaps one of the finest in India. This course is the venue for many competitions every year. The best season for golfing in Naldehra is from April to October and July, August and September.

The Jakhoo Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It is believed that this temple holds the footprints of Lord Hanuman. It is situated on Jakhoo Hill, the highest peakin Shimla 2.5 km /1.3 miles east from the Ridge, Shimla at a height of 2,455 m (8,000 feet) above sea level. Shimla's highest peak offers a panoramic view of the Shivalik Ranges and the town of Sanjauli. Here in this ancient "Lord Hanuman" temple every year a big festival is held on Dussehra
This giant 108-feet-high idol of Hanuman was unveiled at Jakhoo Hanuman temple in 2010, overlooking the entire city. At 108 feet at the highest altitude of over 8100 feet and constructed at a cost of Rs 1.5 crores, it surpasses the statue of 'Christ the Redeemer', which measures at 98 feet and stands at an altitude of 2296 feet in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Jakhu is derived from Hindi word Yakhsa. Yakshas are the mythological character in Hindu mythology, who are a link between human and gods. The original dates of temple is not known, but it is believed to be existing from the times of Ramayana, a pre-historic event as per ancient Hindu texts. The Jakhu hill is the highest peak around Shimla, and is famous for its trekking options. The Jakhu hill offers excellent views of sunrise, sunset, mountains and town. The hill is full of narrow paths and roads which are an enjoyable walks.
A flat terrain in Shimla, Annandale has been developed as the playground of the city. It is located approximately 3 kilometers away from the Ridge and is used to play cricket and to organize picnics, Golf, and Polo. It is quite a scenic spot as it gives a picturesque view of the Shimla city and its surroundings are occupied by deodar trees, oak trees, etc. Annandale is famous because earlier the British used this as a play ground for racing, polo, cricket and other entertaining activities.

The State Museum Shimla was opened on January 26, 1974 to collect and preserve the ancient artistic, historical, archaeological and ethnological human works in order that the future generation may have access to the cultural treasure it has inherited from the past.
Here various artifacts are preserved and displayed like the antique books, coins, paintings, jewelries and splendid handicraft items.
It also houses a collection of bronze idols from the temples scattered all around Himalayas, contemporary oil paintings, which capture some of the most picturesque scenes from the Himalayas, and a small collection of the deity masks, found in the valleys of Kullu and Sarahan, dating back to 19th and 20th century.
